The “Economics” Department was first established on September 1, 1969, within the General Technical Faculty of the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute.
On September 1, 1978, it began operating under the name “Political Economy” Department at the Bukhara Institute of Food and Light Industry, headed by Associate Professor S.I. Bobojonov. In 1993, on the basis of the “Economics, Production Organization and Planning” Department, a new department named “Production and Management” was created. By 1997, from this structure, the new “Economic Theory and Marketing” Department was separated. A year later, the independent “Economics” and “Marketing” departments began to operate separately.
From January 2002, the “Economics” and “Marketing” departments were merged and continued their activities under the name “Marketing and Economics.” Between 2010 and April 2013, they were once again separated into two independent departments: “Management” and “Marketing.”
On April 15, 2013, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. PQ-1954 “On the Establishment of the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute,” the department was reorganized as the “Management” Department and continued its activities until September 15, 2021. From that date, by order of the Rector of the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute, the “Economics” Department was separated from the “Management” Department and resumed independent activity.
On January 24, 2025, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. PQ-22 on the establishment of Bukhara State Technical University, the “Economics and Management” Department was re-established within the structure of the university, and it has since been headed by Prof. A.Ch. Boboev.
Since 1969, the department has functioned under various names and organizational forms, and has been led by professors S.I. Bobojonov, S.S. Khaitov, Z.M. Abdullaeva, O.M. Hamroqulov, A.B. Nizomov, N.Kh. Alimov, R.U. Asatov, M. Saidov, D.I. Roziyeva, B.F. Azimov, Sh.N. Khaitov, N.M. Ziyavutdinova, Sh.M. Avezova, and A.Ch. Boboev.
